This is the first part of the story of how we met and got engaged! We will be updating with more parts as our wedding approaches. The full story can be found under "Our Story" in the site navigation menu.

In the beginning, Liam George Delaney was born to Erza and Marina (Williams) Delaney in January 1997. Liam was raised alongside his two siblings, Ed and Catherine, in Port Washington, Long Island until 2008 when the family moved to Trumansburg, New York.

A bit later, Olivia Kaye Murray was born to Kenneth and Laurie (Borden) Murray in January 1999. The third of four siblings, Olivia spent her entire childhood in the home built by her father and grandfather, Delano Borden, in Trumansburg, New York.

She looked like this

Olivia’s two older siblings, Lindsay and Jordan, both graduated high school and moved off to college by the time she was in kindergarten. Both of the elder Murray siblings would later go on to each get married and start their own families, making Olivia and younger sister Elise aunts for the first time while still in elementary school.

Liam and Olivia both attended middle and high school at the same time in Trumansburg, New York. Though the district is small, they were two grades apart (Liam class of ‘15, Olivia class of ‘17) and with no common extracurriculars or mutual friends they did not know each other while in school. Liam and Olivia both met and remain lifelong friends with many people from their childhood in Trumansburg.

Fast forward to June of 2022, Olivia moved back to her hometown after spending the two years post graduating from SUNY Geneseo living in Rochester with friends Berkley, Faith, and Matt. Olivia initially considered the move home temporary as she applied for new jobs elsewhere in the country, but quickly decided she was ready to stick around for good in T-burg, the home that she has always loved. Not long after deciding she was staying, Olivia became fast friends with Aidan Kaplan-Wright after they both recognized each other from high school while he was working in town at Gimme Coffee.

Meanwhile, Liam had graduated from Cornell University and began working in IT at a local healthcare nonprofit. During that summer had been traveling all over visiting friends and had just ran his first half-marathon (after months of arduous training). During this time, he was sharing an apartment with his longtime friend - Aidan Kaplan-Wright.

Olivia had been making a concerted effort to reestablish herself in T-burg and make new friends in the weeks since moving home. On August 24, 2022 she invited a handful of people to play trivia at Atlas Bowl in town. Among those who came was Aidan, who asked if his roommate Liam could join in. Olivia said the more the merrier.
